On Sunday, September 14, St. James Church of Watertown, MA, celebrated the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and held its annual “Homecoming Sunday” event, which marked the opening day of the St. James Sunday School.
Parents and students gathered for a special assembly before heading to their classrooms. Superintendent Marsha Alabachian delivered a message about the importance of attending Sunday School and staying involved in the church.
Later on, the students and their families took part in the Divine Liturgy and witnessed the Antasdan (Blessing of the Fields) service. In his sermon, the Rev. Fr. Arakel Aljalian, parish pastor, welcomed the students and wished them a productive Sunday School year. Following services, the Sunday School hosted a homecoming brunch for the entire parish.
The parish’s Sts. Sahag and Mesrob Armenian School held its opening ceremony on September 13.
